Wendell W. Yellow Bull
A life-long resident of Oglala Lakota County, Wendell W. Yellow Bull has served as an Oglala Lakota County Commissioner for two years. Wendell currently serves on the Oglala Lakota County Extension Board and is a supervisor for the Oglala Sioux Tribal Ambulance Services.
Wendell formerly worked with the Oglala Sioux Tribal Department of Public Safety as an Executive Director and Chief of Police. He also served four years with the U.S. Marine Corp from 1979 – 1983.
Wendell holds a Bachelor of Arts in History and Sociology, a Bachelor of Science in Human Services, and Associate’s Degrees in General Studies, Criminal Justice, and Social Work. He is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Leadership and Management.
Wendell and his wife Delores have seven children: Wendell III, Jennifer, Misty, Wendy, Ashley, Davis, and Riely.
Anna Takes The Shield
Lyla Hutchison was appointed to the Oglala Lakota County Commission in September 2007, to fill a vacated position and has now been elected to serve through 2014. She served as Vice-Chairman in 2009 and 2010 and will serve as Chairman in 2011.
Lyla is a life-long resident of Oglala Lakota County, attending grade school at Denby, then at Batesland, and as a tuition student for high school in Gordon, Nebraska. She was employed in the Business Office at Oglala Lakota County Schools for 28 years and now stays home as a ranch wife, with husband Don, just south of Wounded Knee, three miles from where she grew up.
