Courthouse Offices Closed Tuesday

Fall River & Oglala Lakota County Courthouse and County Offices located at 906 N River St and 1029 N River St in Hot Springs, SD will be closed on Tuesday, April 23rd due to work on water lines to those buildings.

Offices affected: Auditor, Treasurer, Register of Deeds, Veteran’s Services, State’s Attorney, Clerk of Courts, Director of Equalization, and GIS.  The Sheriff’s Office, Jail, and Dispatch will operate as normal.

Further information on the construction is available on the Hot Springs Urban Reconstruction page on Facebook.

Is your name on this list or do you know someone listed?

We are trying to get in touch with the people listed as some have refunds coming back to them and we need to obtain current mailing information and others owe Oglala Lakota County for things like Inmate charges, Court Appointed Attorney Fees etc.

If you are one of those that owe money to the County, we do offer payment plans and are willing to work with you.

Please contact Teresa with the Treasurer’s Office at 605-745-5145 or you can call the Auditor’s Office at 605-745-5130. You may also reach out via email to [email protected].

Tax Bill Mailing Issues

Due to a software conversion issue with the address update file some 2023 pay 2024 tax bills were sent to incorrect addresses and individuals.

  • If you are an owner who sold property this last year and still received a tax bill please disregard. You will be receiving a letter to this effect as soon as we are able to finish processing the corrected address file.
  • If you are a new owner who purchased property this last year we will be printing new tax bills. You will be receiving the new bill in the mail as soon as we are able to finish processing the corrected address file.
  • If you made an address change with the county this last year the tax bill was mailed to the old address. You will be receiving the new bill in the mail as soon as we are able to finish processing the corrected address file.
  • If you are an exempt organization you may have received a tax bill with a zero dollar amount.
  • If your address contains 4 lines instead of 3, for example if your address has a Care-of line the system may also have formatted your address incorrectly. We will resend these as they are returned to us in the mail.

If you do not wish to wait to know what your taxes are, the total taxes due for 2024 are available on our website. On the Oglala Lakota County website click ‘Online Map’ and then ‘Real Estate Search’. You can then use your name, address, or parcel number to search for your property.  Tax information is located near the bottom of the property page just above the property sketch.

Please be aware that property owners are responsible for property taxes regardless of whether they receive a tax notice in the mail.  If you own property in Oglala Lakota County and do not receive a tax notice in the next month please contact the Treasurer’s office.
